twopi generates radial graphs, but it has very limited tuning capabilities. Though the twopi documentation barely mentions ranking, it does seem to do a form of ranking, but based on shortest distance.
Dot however has many tuning variables, but it strictly produces an X/Y (rectangular) layout.
My question: has there been any work to get dot to produce a “native” radial layout or to convert a dot X/Y layout to a radial form?
Consider a folding paper fan or an accordion.
Yes, there are geometry challenges, but that’s why I am asking what has already been done.
